After a couple days of playing Forza, here are some things that I learned.
-Rumble triggers feel like you are squishing a bee.
-I can't play my music ingame. And the ingame music sounds like an orchestra was instructed to make elevator music.
-Vehicle noises seem clearer/improved. I even started playing around with various engines/upgrades to hear the differences.
-no more groups, which is ok since you can have 1000 friends anyway.
-making gold equal to getting in the top three is brilliant. Normally I play these games with assists off and ai easy to enjoy the thrill of driving. Now, depending on my comfort level with the car/course I change the difficulty quite a bit. If my rewinds stray over 5% I make it easier.
-There is a huge array of difficulty levels. Placing in the top 3 on the second hardest difficulty level will net you a top 1000 or less in the world. Owning at normal usually gets me top 20,000 or less.
-Far greater upgrade options. For example, 350hp awd 1500lb lotus elan for autox.
-improved paint options, allowing raw materials such as metal/wood and carbon fiber.

How does driving compare to Forza 4? Two of the biggest complaints I had with 4 was that the cars felt extremely heavy and wouldn't change direction as quickly as they probably should, and that losing traction would automatically spin you, maybe as a result of the cars not being as quick to respond. Have they changed that for 5?

It feels different, I find the cars more responsive, especially with simulation steering enabled. Smooth inputs greatly reward the driver by keeping the car in control.

Err...anyone levying those kinds of complaints has probably played nothing but Burnout games prior to Forza. It's a sim-biased driving game. The cars feel like the 1-2 ton machines they are and loss of grip is just that- loss of grip. If you're spinning every time you lose traction, then you don't understand tire grip or counter steer and probably need to practice more, lol. If any loss of traction whatsoever automatically spun you, then drifting would be inherently possible. Which means drifting in Forza 4 is actually witchcraft, not driver skill.

Otherwise, how would I be able to do this...

This consistently...

To this extreme....

This accurately...

Or with this much goddamn style?

Joe Limon

Someone needs to get a community speadsheet going. We could all do with more rivals opponents.

That would be good. I'd volunteer to make one, but I'm lazy. Haha.

I shouldn't say 'spin', but more like 'make it difficult with realistic steering and no traction control to keep the back end in line without losing a bunch of time" after you lose traction. I rarely spin, but it is annoying to have to drop a few seconds getting the car back in order. I've put in over 800 hours into driving alone in Forza 4 and put in top 3 or 4,000 lap times regularly in un-tuned GT cars, not over-tuned Nobles or Joss's, so it's not like I lack experience in the least. That's mostly in the R-class cars which obviously are much more temperamental in regards to handling, so maybe that's my problem. Racing with an old controller with shittty joysticks probably doesn't help either lol. I have played iRacing and Gran Turismo in the past at my cousin's house so that's what I was using as a benchmark. It seemed like those games more accurately reflect the 'darting' nature of racing cars, if that makes sense, I was just curious of how Forza 5 did it. Oh, I've also put in 1,000 hours each in Forza 2 and 3. Forza's all I know, basically, but comparing it to other racing games I can see areas for improvement.

How's the exterior customizing options?

Eh, I use the controllers that came with my gen-1 Xbox and a used 4-year-old microsoft racing wheel and I seem to do fine. R-class cars just require more restraint and finesse than most people are used to.

Wheels have 3 different styles, and aren't split up by manufacturers anymore. Deeper paint system, plus an option to pick a community created design when you buy a car. It tracks your choices and gets you to rate them after a few races. With the data designs are better rated and it can help the game choose styles that you might enjoy more.

As mentioned earlier, there are more realistic paint/texture options. In game exterior carbon fiber is breath taking in autovista/photomode. There are also metallic finished. I have a copper and stainless colour schemed atom and it's gorgeous.

As far as body mods go, they are just like the last versions, available in great supply among cheap vehicles and non existent on expensive vehicles.

I was going to say someone here has a list of gamertags and whatnot, then I realized that this wasn't TAY. I don't know for certain who organized it, I'm leaning towards Truth did, I just remember seeing a spreadsheet with various Gamertags, PSN names and even Friend Codes if I am recalling correctly.
